Kona Kai Resort (last updated 01/31/2010)
The Kona Kai Resort was purchased by the Atlas Hotels Inc. in February of 2006.
The contract there has expired since February of 2007. Contract
negotiation has been going on. The last remaining and must have issue
there is job security if the hotel is sold (successor cause). Job
security is a crucial aspect of a good contract and the workers will
settle for nothing less. Erick Carbajal is the field representative there.

We have numerous picket line outside of the Kona Kai Resort. All Kona Kai workers
and Local 30 members are invited to the Hotel in Shelter island to the rally
protesting the Kona Kai management's refusal in providing job security. Workers
there demand a good contract and a contract without job security is completely
unacceptable. Our picket line are always loud, exciting and compelling. The message
to the management is loud and clear that workers will continue to fight for job
security and won't settle for a contract without it.
